Tuina - Traditional Chinese Massage
Purposes:
To provide a framework of Paediatric Tuina either or to TCM practitioners
and students, or to parents and people without TCM knowledge.
Methods:
The training is focused on interaction and small groups, learning through
problem-solving, with great attention for individual practice.
Contents:
- Introduction to children physio-pathology and diagnosis in Chinese
Medicine.
- Areas, lines and points used in children.
- Specific stimulation and massage techniques.
- Treatment for the most common problems, as fever, respiratory diseases,
digestion disorders, sleeping troubles.
Structure:
4 units, 3-4 hours each unit (total 12-16 hours, either in one weekend
or in 4 half-days)

Unit (for TCM students and professionals)
- Physiology and diagnostic methods in paediatrics.
- Use of guasha, moxibustion, cupping, seven-star needle.
1°
Unit (for parents and people without TCM knowledge)
- Basic system of Chinese Medicine.
- Causes of desease and main manifestations in children.
2°-3°
Unit:
- Tuina methods used for children (roufa, tuifa, niefa): techniques
and localization
- Syndrom differentiation of the most common disorders (see below)
- Treatment strategies: choice of a sequence of methods and areas/points
and clinical applications in different patterns
4°
Unit:
- Case history discussion or work with patients
Achievements:
At the end of the course the participants are able to:
- Differentiate the main clinical patterns
- Design and apply a sequence of stimulations for treatment
- Remember name, technique and indications of about 40 methods/localizations.
Main
clinical patterns:
General: Preventive massage to keep the child healthy, sleeping troubles,
agitation.
Digestive and intestinal: lack of appetite, regurgitation and vomit,
baby colic pain, diarrhea, constipation.
Respiratory: common cold, cough, fever
